The Brookfield Craft Center’s Artist-in-Residence program, again offers a unique opportunity for both established and emerging local artists across a range of visual arts and craft media. The primary goal of our program is to promote the creative process of artists by providing them with the space, time, resources, and a supportive community to develop their work. The program will span 2 weeks beginning Sunday, August 10, 2025, through Sunday, August 24, 2025. Please note artists applying must be local, as there are no living quarters to offer at this time.
WHO CAN APPLY?
All applications sought are for the full two-week time period and participants must be 21 years of age or older. An Artist-in-Residency Advisory Board will review the applications, work samples, proposed residency projects, and skill levels of candidates to determine their capacity to work independently. A $500 stipend will be provided for supplies.
WHAT’S EXPECTED OF ME AS AN ARTIST?
This creative opportunity is also about giving back to the community, and has two requirements: a teaching or collaborative project with up to four local High School students each on day 12 of the residency and an artist talk and presentation on their artistic journey on day 14, the final day of the residency.
Applications will be considered across all nine studios: Forge, Paper Arts, Modern Craft, Ceramic, Glass, Woodturning, Jewelry, Fiber, and River Room (mixed media) studios. However, in our 2024 inaugural year, only two artists will be selected. As the program develops over time, our vision is to have one artist in each of the nine studios, fostering a community of residents who can inspire and support each other – relaxing over a meal on the patio by the river.
WHEN CAN I APPLY?
The application will be available online January 25, 2025, with an April 26, 2025, deadline. An application fee of $45.00 is required. The two applicants selected will be notified by May 24, 2025.
