This class will take advantage of the Craft Center’s gas kiln and will “high fire” stoneware and porcelain in reduction to Cone 10. All levels are welcome as students work at their own pace with instructor Sarah Bernhardt on projects of their choice in a creative studio environment.
Starts April 11: This evening class offers students a wide and wonderful sampling of ceramic techniques, a sure match for every type of artistic interest and expression. Students can expect to go home with a collection of work, and build on the basics for a rewarding, creative adventure.
This 6-week course, open to anyone, teaches the basic skills of jewelry making. Focusing on the art of fabricating with copper and silver metals, students will be guided through all steps from design to completion of a piece of jewelry. Topics covered include the properties of various metals, basic tools and their uses, and studio safety
This is elegant jewelry making on a serious budget. Jewelry makers with some experience can learn this technique from Leslie Hartwell. It uses minimal amounts of silver, saving money. Want it to be fancier? Add a faceted stone or two! April 9 – 10; click to register.
Weekends not your thing? Why not try one of these evening classes that BCC is offering in the weeks ahead. After you’ve spent a day at work, treat yourself to learning the skills of a craft artist: discover mold making in ceramic and glass, or how to solder metal to create fine jewelry.
Welcome in Spring by making the last weekend in March a fun one! We’re running workshops in glass, jewelry, and woodturning: take a look, register, and make your weekend a special, creative time.
In Colorful Clay with Lisa Scroggins, wheel-thrown and handbuilt projects will be pursued. This class has an open studio feel, as projects are student-driven. Starts March 29 and runs on Tuesdays until May 17 (no class April 19) from 10a to 1p.

As the weather’s warming up, so is our woodturning studio. Here’s some classes for beginners and skilled woodturners alike to help you celebrate the change of season…
In this fun 4 week class, students will work on garden related projects of their choice while learning new skills in ceramics. Planters, vases, bird houses and baths, plant markers and garden sculpture are some possible projects; bring your ideas to life in stoneware. 4 Tuesday evenings, March 1 – 22, 6p – 9p.
Students interested in blacksmithing will gain a working knowledge of the fundamentals in this enjoyable weekend workshop. Basic techniques will be covered, including use of tools, safety, the forge, controlling a fire, reading the temperature of the metals, and shaping. Special emphasis will be placed on gaining a solid foundation of hammer techniques and use, handling hot steel and fire control. Saturday/Sunday, March 5 – 6, 10a – 4p.
