Eva DeFranco

Eva recently retired from the practice of law after 40 years and is pursuing her passion as a ceramic artist and instructor at Brookfield Craft Center. She began throwing pots as a hobby when some of her dear friends bought her a potter’s wheel for her 40th birthday—over 20 years ago. Eva was selected in 2025 to participate in the yearlong intensive Cohorts Arts Mentorship Program and has been working with renown potter, Martha Grover. Since January of 2026. Eva has shown her work in local galleries including the Kent Art Association where she was awarded second place and Live for Art Gallery in Pawling where she was awarded honorable mention. Eva also participates in several area Fine Art Shows. Eva is a current Board Member of Sherman Artists Association.

Eva makes functional pots from stoneware that celebrate the earth. Some of her pots tell joyful stories of protected lands with whimsical carvings.  Other pots riff on the raw beauty of trees, mountains and canyons through combinations of form, texture and color. Her genuine hope is that her pots provide a lift to folks who use them—whether they bring a moment of peace in a busy day, spark a smile or offer some warm memory of a special place.
